Craig Jacuzzi
This is the first of two caches at Craig Bothy near Diabaig. Details of the walk can be found at http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/torridon/Diabaigcraig.shtml
Park at N57 34.853 W005 41.899 where there is room for a couple of cars. The walk starts at the gate and sign a little further along the road on the right. It will take about an hour to reach Craig along a good path with great views of Diabaig bay, Loch Torridon and further west to the Isle of Skye. Craig bothy itself used to be a Youth Hostel but is now run by the Mountain Bothy Association. The door is open to anyone wishing to stay there (and has a toilet!) The bothy looks very cosy with a stove in the sitting room.
There was a map on the notice board showing the various places of interest around the bothy and I noticed one in particular called “Craig Jacuzzi” and I decided this would be the ideal spot for the cache. The Jacuzzi is to be found at N57 36.690 W005 43.067. There is a faint path along the left bank (looking downstream) through fields of bracken which leads to the Jacuzzi. The cache is on the right bank! When I placed the cache there had been very little rain and crossing the river was not a problem but that might not always be the case. There is a bridge near the bothy which you can use if you want to walk up the other bank.
I walked to Craig from Diabaig but it can also be done from Red Point. The road to Diabaig is an adventure in itself and is not suitable for caravans.
