The purpose of the “Lest we forget….” series is to take a moment out of our busy lives to remember those who fell fighting for our country. This series, started by ‘Bearded Zombie’, is exclusive to Opencaching.uk
This memorial is in the design of a Latin cross, with a carved sword upon the face of the cross. The cross is upon a stone base, on the face of the base is a carved copper panel depicting a crucifix, soldiers and a battle scene. The base sits upon two stone steps.
It was unveiled in 1923 and rededicated in 2002. It is situated in the Pierremont Park entrance.
