Beschrijving EN

Conies Down Tor is within Merrivale Firing Range. You must check the Range Firing Notice on www.dartmoor-ranges.co.uk
Do not enter on firing days or if you see red flags flying on range flag poles! Do not pick up any unidentified objects lying in the ranges.
Dartmoor needs to be taken seriously, please ensure you are equipped for a long walk & changeable weather.
This is listed as a combination Letterbox/Geocache. You are looking for a small cliplock box hidden a short distance from the tor. The box contains a visitor`s book, rubber stamp & pen.
The stamp design is based on the ancient "Three Hares" symbol which can be found in several Dartmoor churches. On the moor it is also called "The Tinners` Rabbits" and dates from the 14th century. The design seems to have originated in China before spreading through the middle-east & into Europe. The meaning is not understood but has been linked to fertility, the Holy Trinity & the equally ancient "Green Man".

Good luck & enjoy your walk
