British Bigfoot

Tunbridge Wells common is a 200 acre green space close to the historic Pantiles, with sandstone outcroppings, a disused railway, tunnels, dense wooded area and even caves.

As reported in The Sun newspaper:

An apeman standing eight feet tall and with "red burning eyes" has been spotted lurking around woods ... in Tunbridge Wells.

Reports claim that a "hairy beast with demonic eyes" has been seen on the 200-acre Tunbridge Wells Common in Kent several times in the past six months.

According to local community website Tunbridge Wells People, the Kentish Apeman - or British Bigfoot - was first seen 70 years ago during World War Two, but has "now returned".

It states that the last sighting took place just three weeks ago on the edge of the woods when the "beast" roared, scaring off a man walking home through the woods.

The witness said the apeman was "covered in hair" and had "long arms and stood at around 8ft tall".

An article on the Tunbridge Wells People forum states: “One of the strangest stories to emerge about Tunbridge Wells this week is the claims that a British Bigfoot has been spotted in woodland near the town.

“The Kentish Apeman has recently been spotted on Tunbridge Wells Common - the exact spot where it was also apparently seen 70 years ago.

“The beast is reportedly eight-foot tall, has red demonic eyes and is covered in hair.”

It then calls on locals to help, adding: “Have YOU seen the Kentish Apeman in Tunbridge Wells? And, more importantly, do you have a picture? Let us know!”

According to one local painter and decorator, calling himself just Graham S, an elderly client told him that she and her husband had seen the apeman in 1942 as they sat on a bench on the common.

Graham S wrote: “One particular day she (the elderly lady) went to the common with her husband and was sitting on a bench when they became aware of a shuffling noise behind them.

“Upon turning around both her husband and herself saw what she described as a tall, hairy ape like creature with eyes that were burning a reddish colour and it was moving towards them at a slow pace.

“They observed this creature for some time until they became afraid and they both fled - terrified.

“She went on to say that they told the police and members of their family, thinking that a gorilla had escaped from a zoo, but were laughed at and were not believed.”

Local Andy Snider, 34, said: “I don’t really believe in all this, but if there is even the remotest chance that a bigfoot is living in the woods in Tunbridge Wells Common then I’ll be steering clear for the time being.”

This story continued to be reported in several of the national newspapers, and the animal has now become affectionately known as the British bigfoot. It has even led to a number of cryptozoological and paranormal groups spending entire nights on the common in the hope of finding the mythical beast!

While searching for the cache, make sure you keep a look out for the demonic eyed beast lurking in the woods!
