I solved this puzzle soon after the cache was published, though not before making the puzzle much harder than it really is. I haven't visited this area for quite some time and so the cache languished on the "solved, waiting to be visited" list. Today I was passing so stopped to have a look, though after nearly three years unfound I wasn't hopeful of finding the cache.
I was encouraged when my calculated coords took me within a few metres of something which matched my interpretation of the hint and I searched there for a while without success.

9 days ago I returned from an OpenCaching trip to Dartmoor. The last day was very wet and windy. My boots got pretty wet inside from the rain, exacerbated by misjudging a boggy stream crossing.
I thought 9 days in my warm, dry study should have dried them out,
but I thought wrong. I spent today caching with wet feet, and this was
the first wet footed cache of the day 
.
The cache was well spotted for a quick find, and contained a truly serendipitous log password 
.
