Thanks for prompting me to spend some time studying the memorial.  I was interested to see the sections with non UK service men listed.

I noticed FRANCIS F.W.  New Zealand Forces.

I found the website "New Zealand and World War One Roll of Honour" and found Fredrick William Francis.  Killed in Action 31st July 1917.  Son of Mr and Mrs William Francis of Palmerston North, Wellington.  Buried at the Belgian Messines Ridge New Zealand Memorial.

It's striking to think of these men travelling thousands of miles to fight in Europe.  I was similarly struck by all of the Polish and Czech pilots named on the Battle of Britain memorial on the cliffs East of Folkestone.
