This cache overlooks Polridmouth beach (pronounced "P`ridmuth") just west of Fowey.
The little cottage next to the lake is part of the Menabilly Estate. Daphne du Maurier was living at Menabilly House when she wrote the novel "Rebecca", the boathouse in her book was based on the cottage. It`s now rented out as a holiday cottage.
To the souh-west of the beach is The Gribbin (or Gribben) headland. The red & white tower at the top is an 84 ft. high navigation mark, built in 1834.
If you have time to explore the far western end of the cove, you will find the remains of the "M.V. Romanie", a small cargo ship that was wrecked here in 1930.
Parking is available at Menabilly Barton farm N50`19.725 W004`40.550 , pay 50p at the farm gate. Or at Coombe Farm (Fowey), N50`18.815 W004`39.430 , £2 in honesty box (costs more, but a more scenic walk).
You are looking for a 1 litre polycarbonate box, disguised to blend in with its surroundings.
