I would suggest parking at the church and using one of the footpaths to get to the virtual cache location. Please be careful with children as there are steep drops in front of some of the paths.

The cache is located in happy valley; the very name of this area close to Rusthall and Langton Green conjures thoughts of beautiful views of the Weald which can still be seen today, albeit through the trees which have obscured some of the view.

It is famous for Sweeps Cave; two alcoves carved into the local sandstone and were called this as they were used by local chimney sweeps to store soot. Another reason for the area's fame is the historic 105 steps down into the valley, which were originally built to provide access to the cold baths which are several hundred years old.

However by the 1840's, the original steps had become covered by mud and grass and not revealed again until 1959 when the broken and missing steps were replaced. A sign stands at the top of the steps with a warning explaining how slippery the steps and banks of the valley become when they are wet - you have been warned!! I nearly slipped down them myself!

The steps you need to use are right next to the caves.

To log this virtual cache, you will need to find the four digit passcode. This can be found on the left of the left hand alcove, carved into the stone.
