The purpose of the “Lest we forget….” series is to take a moment out of our busy lives to remember those who fell fighting for our country. This series, started by ‘Bearded Zombie’, is exclusive to Opencaching.uk
The memorial stands in the middle of the High Street, Headcorn. It is in a cenotaph style obelisk and is inset with red marble. The plaques commemorating those who died from World War 1 and 2 are on the front of the monument, on one side is a soldier charging with bayonet fixed and the other a naval gunner firing his gun. The back holds a black laurel wreath.
