5627 2020-07-22 20:38 Heartstones1 (user activity13) - Note

Came to check as it's the closest climb to home. The ovaltine container had gone brittle but the inner was fine. I replaced the outer container.

As it is St George's Day (23/4) I thought it the ideal time to come and re climb this. All is well

We had planned to do this cache today but ended up with a visit to FR Jones to get me a new harness and where better than to test it out on one of Tony's caches..

We eventually got the line up with the help of the big shot, got the rope in place and up I went and what a joy the new harness was climbing this extremely high tree.

Signed the log and made a swift decent back to ground.

Thanks for another great cache.

Local area today as we did some retail therapy first thing for TheHurks new harness. So of course we needed a few extreme caches to test it out. As usual this climb was not to disappoint. Had a couple of people glance across as we tried to fire up the line but we soon had it ready to go. Great to have St George as was nice and easy to spot. Thanks Heartsones

Out with alfieo picking up some open caches and this one had to be on the list.  Parked in an all too familiar area and soon arrived at GZ.  Loved the flag and only a couple of shots required to get the line in place.  Alfieo went first and retrieved the log so after the admin was done it was my responsibility to replace where found.  Great tree climb to start the day

Decided to come here and collect some open caches, chose tree climbing ones as Cheeky_Chimp isn't happy unless he's up a tree!  Parked up nearby and made my way to GZ where the cache host was obvious but the flag made me a smile.  This wasn't too difficult to set a line so was soon on way up to the cache container.  I did wonder if Cheeky_Chimp would be able to reach to replace but he did.  Great climb to start the day with and now moving on to the next

My 12,000th cache, and the second milestone of the day.

Dizzygirl made the first ascent, and then I went up to put the log back. The inner container was hanging on it's thread, so I unscrewed the lid to replace it - but what I hadn't realised was that the lid of the outer container wasn't screwed on, it was just balanced on top, so that headed earthwards before I had even touched it!

Well, my old bones were getting quite tired by now, so I have to confess I wasn't too sorry when dizzygirl volunteered to go up a second time to replace it - thanks Karen .

Thanks for the cache,

Rgds, Andy

Here for two milestones today Amberel's 500th T5 and his 12,000 cache. A true inspiration to us all. The BS didn't cause too much trouble at all after discussing placement so up I scooted to fetch the log. Taking the pot out causes more trouble then reaching it. Anyway, fetched it for Amberel to sign and return only it seemed i attached the outer lid rather loosely as as Amberel went to return the log the lid sailed away to the floor. Had to chuckle but seeing Amberel's tired expression I re-rigged and shot up to fix my poor prep.  Great cache, all the better for the flag to mark such a good tree.

3821 2017-03-14 19:05 Roseysaurus (user activity8) - Found it

Came here after some other caches. Soon spotted it thanks to the flag. I'd like to say it wasn't as many as 27 goes with the big shot but, after lots of "one more go" it finally got up to a good place. Some pretty good throwing and jiggling skills and it the rope was soon up. Everyone climbed double rope today. I went up first, the first half of the tree seemed to take a long time but then the rest went quickly. Attached my lanyard and got up to the cache. The hardest part of the whole thing was trying to get the log book out. That was like it's very own Krypton factor puzzle on its own. I may be giving my age away! Feeling very pleased with myself for being able to get up a tree and be able to write. My first open cache, and a {*FTF*} too. Really great fun here. Thanks

Joint {*FTF*} with Wizbit100 and Roseysaurus at about 17:00 although I never looked properly.

We arrived here after giving up on something then being distracted by another until after leaving the house at 945 we rocked up here towards school kicking our time so around 3:30

About 27 shots later with the big shot we went for the lower option and we're going to move the rope up. To that end Roseysaurus went up first and yet at height she was nearer than expected. A skilled use of the lanyard had her able to do all the cache paperwork. A brilliant job well done.  So now it was Wizbit then me.

I had started to have a small crisis of confidence yet it all went well and I got up and touched the cache. Soon back down after the obligatory destruction of a glove in the zigzag.

Now just the drive home. Joy.

TFTC.

i posted a wrong picture but can't see how to delete.  That was from the clamber.
