Checked today, all good, but due to the GZ of a nearby GC cache shifting closer to here, I may need to relocate this .

We decided we had been sat around for long enough, stuffing our faces with cake and choccies, so decided we needed a walk, which could then be topped off with standing around scoffing cake and choccies. Perfect!:D:D:DSo, after conferring with Hal-an-tow, we worked out what the new Covid regulations were to make sure we were compliant and met up for a cold walk across muddy fields. Once again we were very lucky with the weather and the clouds cleared to show lovely blue sky. April the geohound was extremely happy to be off the lead, running circles around us at Mach 2, strafing us with mud splatters as she raced by.

On route Hal-an-tow was performing maintenance on other caches we had found previously, whilst we helped find some of the more elusive ones. It also gave April more chances to race around on her sniffari. We did see some muggles around, but fortunately not too many, although typically, just as we arrived at this cache zone, we had to play with April to make it look less suspicious as to why we were stood around waiting for them to pass. This well stocked cache was soon located and was in pretty good nick. There was not much water ingress and the log and excellent swaps were dry in their own sealed bags. Log was soon signed and cache replaced.

Heading back to the car, I spotted some late sloes on a bush, so we gathered some to make into sloe gin. Once back at the cars, we had a post walk 'snack' of raspberry drizzle cake, choccy covered lebkuchen (at least I can spell it, even if I cannot say it:D:D :D) and some raspberry and bergamot white choccy thingamajigs, all washed down with hot drinkies of our choice. Oh, and we had leftover Christmas crackers with really, really bad jokes :D

Thanks Hal-an-tow for the cache, the walk, the snacks and the drinkies :D

I was in the area for other geocaches so decided to tag this cache onto the to find this. After a thoroughly muddy wallow along to the start of the footpath I then proceeded to slip and slide along to this cache. Accompanied by the sound of a loudly splashing brook in full flow I made a quick find. Signed the log and made sure all was closed nice and tightly in case of more rain (highly likely). Now to just slide back uphill again. TFTC.

Had a little maintenance wibble today, I'd been surprised the cache was reported as wet inside as it's a decent clip box, but wet it was .

Fortunately swag and log were fine inside their sealed bags, so the box was dried out  the sealing gasket wiped (I suspect some trapped muck may have been the problem) and all replaced. Please do mention any future water ingress in your log so I know if this has worked or not !

Running a bit late now, so jogging round the circuit. Quickly found, but afraid it was full of water, fortunately the plastic bag the log book was in had been well sealed and the log book is OK. Dried it off best I could on my trousers, not very well but better than nothing.

Thanks for the cache,

Rgds, Andy

I was a lovely morning to be out running and stopping occasionally for a cache. This one was a nice quick find, there was no sign of any hares today but at least the sun was making an appearance :o)

Onward from Hare Today to this second cache in the very warm sunshine. As we got to the bottom of the hill we could see a pair of headlights coming towards us along the footpath. It made a quite surreal picture being in the middle of arable fields with not a soul in sight. It was of course the farmer on a sort of buggy that we had to stand to one side for to allow him to pass.

After finding the well stocked cache, the co-ordinates being excellent, signing the log and replacing everything as found, Mrs H could have done with a lift climbing back up the hill towards Mere Lane. Thanks hal-an-tow for placing the cache.

Having found the nearby 'Hare Today', wishing to make the most of the day's hare-related moments, and assuming Mrs112358 was happy enough listening to R3 in the car, I came along to this one too.

It has been several years since I walked along Mere Lane (since finding hal-an-tow's nearby series of caches on another platform in fact). I had forgotten that Mere Lane refernecessarily a lake rather than meaning 'just a lane'. Everywhere else we had walked today, some 14km, was more or less dry: not Mere Lane! As ever, it was doing its best to get back to being a mere.

The path to this cache gives a pretty good view across the fields to the fairly recent rajah's palace built near the A6. It's a bit naff, a bit Prince Charles, but essentially good fun.

The cache was not naff at all, and certainly good fun. It is obtainable without the use of gardening gloves and comes to hand very easily. It is indeed packed with child-friendly goodies and is recommended for young cachers. Not being young, I took nothing and left nothing other than my signature on the nice dry and completely empty log. First to find {FTF} at 1730.

The cache was replaced as found. There was nobody within sight to see.

Back to the car without more than a few spots of rain. Mrs112358 well entertained by the classical music service, and had only had to move the car once to let a golfer get away.

Thanks fo the cache.
