Puzzle caches - a bit like Marmite insofar as you love 'em or you hate 'em. The trouble is, they vary so much and I know how tricky it is to grade a puzzle because your target audience varies so much.

Now, I consider myself a fairly erudite person, but everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to puzzle caches, one needs to be in tune with the puzzle setter. As with many things, if you don't practice it regularly, your skill drops, which has been the issue with me at this point.

A lack of caching time coupled with a reduced number of puzzles nearby to solve has meant that I am well out of practice. It's not that that the CO's puzzles are hard to solve, but more that my brain doesn't work on the same wavelength. Either that, or I am just completely crap!

There are certain aspects of this puzzle that make perfect sense and when you get there, you think "Doh!". The information is there - you just ned to look for it.

And so, with a bit of guidance, I finally hit upon the theme. When I finally made the grade, the CO was kind enough to confirm that I was good, but not that good! However, whilst good is good enough, I sought perfection and I got there in the end.

Today I had the opportunity to get out and about and this was one I definitely wanted to clear up. After paying a visit to the Scout shop at LFE, I found myself detouring for a FTF on a rival caching site, but this was always my primary target.

Having visited the general gz before, I knew where I was going and was soon parked up. I made my way briskly towards gz and was grateful for what seemed to be a cachers' trail. Once amongst the trees, the hiding place was soon located and the cache retrieved. I might add that only my internet research beforehand made any sense of the container!

The log was duly signed and everything replaced as found before heading off to my next target. TFTC & the puzzle

Went to check lut the cache, only to find the hide had been muggled ... by badgers.

Old container retrieved, new container placed in new hide at the same co-ords, hint updated, please replace rock to keep the squirrels from having a go next ...

OC checker added and, er, checked . Happy to see it works fine now .

Well what a muddle we got into with this puzzle, if only, how many times have we said that after realising that Mrs H had the answer reasonably quickly but didn't follow the thought process through, instead went off on another track and got hopelessly lost. After just a couple of appropriate words from the ever helpful CO everything was revisited and it fell into place. This afternoon we were out in the sunshine and went to search for the cache. Mr H found it in its hiding place complete with its guardian, the log was signed and everything replaced as found. Thanks hal an tow for placing the cache and for the help.

I loved the puzzle for this one, much more interesting than going to the pub! It didn't take long to work out the theme but I did stoopidly misinterpret one of the pictures to start with - Doh! After a bit of a pace palm moment when I realised my mistake and some reworking the CO was then kindly able to confirm my coords

I combined finding it with my run for today but I was glad to get a little breather at GZ and the cache was quickly found in this pleasant location :o)
