I have been working in Deepest Darkest West Cornwall for the last 9 months. Whilst I have enjoyed my time on the South West Coast Path, I have missed my time on Dartmoor and have only managed short sporadic trips at weekends. I started working in the Plymouth area on Monday and immediately started planning a trip out here with NSCR. There were so many options to choose from and we decided to come out through Wistmans Woods for a couple of specific caches. There was the added bonus of a possible FTF if we had time too.

We had the added bonus of an Opencache too.  This was a nice easy find.  In fact it was too easy.  I found it lying on the floor between some rocks.  Once we had recorded the bonus information we deliberated about the best place to hide it.  We managed to squeeze it between some rocks as close as the hint said.

Found after a brief search with the aid of the generous hint.

Apologies for the very late log - making a determined effort to rectify our lax logging of Opencaches.

It’s not often that I’m fed by a co before popping out to collect their caches, so today I got lucky.  With a sunny weather window, Amberel and I dashed off. Although I expected this to be a boggy hike, the ground was comparatively parched next to a cache we later attempted! Anyhoo, Amberel found this quickly enough and we headed back to the camper, sadly not before getting soaked by the hailstones.  We did enjoy a few minutes later a cup of hot chocolate and the thundering sound of the weather on the roof.

Popped in to see the c/o on the way here and was treated to a toasted hot cross bun and a cup of coffee, which went down very well, thank-you laughing. An easier hide than usual from this c/o wink

Thanks for the cache,

Rgds, Andy

I don't usually log Open Caches on line but here's an exception.

A quick find for me but Mr W had to retrieve it as I couldn't reach it though no doubt if I'd been alone I would have found a way!  Third visitor today and it's still only about 10.30, I wonder if the local event has anything to do with the number of visitors?   TFTC

This was my first of the day in the company of Dave Johnson and Chudleigh Traveller. After parking at the Cherrybrook we had an easy walk up to this one where the views were pretty minimal due to the mist. Not to worry though, the nearby tors have their own special magic when they appear from nowhere as you get within 100m or so. TFToC

Had decided yesterday to knock this one off the 2018 New Year Challenge. A pity we couldn't come yesterday. Looked promising first thing but the minute we could see Princetown, knew the visability was going to be poor.  Went and put a new container and logbook in our Postbridge cache and returned to Cherrybrook to park. One car already there, who kindly moved so I wasn't parking in front of the gate. Visability no better, but not far to go, and would have been a shame to leave it. Cache found after a little search. Had to get mind switched to CO'S wavelength. The clouded lifted for a short while,  and 2 x 2 other walkers passed by about 100 yards away. Info noted, and will do the other 2 in the feeder caches soonish.

Parked up near ChezDave and set off straight into a headwind all the way across to the Tor. Found the cache quickly and got the numbers. An easier walk with a tailwind on the way back. We grabbed some lunch before setting off for #4 TFTC

We decided to commence our walk not too far from Crockern Tor, where after  short uphill section we were on top of the ridge.  This meant a fairly flat walk to GZ, but it wasn't that easy due to strong winds battering us from the West.  At tiimes I thought I as going to be blown to The Cherrybrook.  It wasn't too long before we arrived at Littaford Tor, it's been a few years since I was last here.  We passed over some more of the wet stuff, and once at GZ I noticed a place that needed looking at.  A quick manoeuvrer with my arm and the container was discovered.  Another pristine log for us today which was signed.

Found in the company of The Caching Corgis and Evil Beagles.  Weren't even totally sure earlier in the week if we would be attending the event due to Mrs W having the lurgy and the weather that was forecast - however Mrs W was awake first and busy looking to see where the new caches were.  Decision was made that we were going and were going after them - after having a leisurely breakfast first.  Knew that we were the last to go and get this one as Truffleites had told us that they and the other team already had located it.  A brisk and bracing walk up to the cache, then, as we had replaced it the hail storm of the century hit - even Mr W's trusty companion took shelter.  Decided to wait until returning to the car to work out the bonus.

We parked at Crockern Tor and headed up and over, my legs were not happy with this part of the walk but luckily it levelled out and the only thing we had to contend with was the wind! I really enjoyed this part of the walk and on a not quite so windy day I will definitely be returning to enjoy the other caches in the area! The light on this part of the walk was particularly lovely despite the threatening clouds over head! Once at the final destination CT went straight to it and we had fun trying to shield all the contents from the wind, we did indeed for a moment lost the bonus info sheet but luckily it was retrieved and returned safely!! Many thanks laughing

Next stop on our New Year's Day Magical Mystery Tour was here, somewhere I've never been to before. We set off in convoy from Hound Tor and parked below Crockern Tor, from where it was a steep walk up the side of the aforementioned tor. Then it was flatter and I really enjoyed the walk to this cache, the light falling through the dappled clouds on to the surrounding landscape was magical. Over a ladder stile to Littaford Tors and Roy soon located the cache once we arrived.
