Called in today to perform maintenance, and it was just as well that I did. Water has got into the outer cache container and also into the plastic bag that the inner, padlocked container sits in, and it is covered in black mould. I'm disabling it until I can get a suitable replacement container.
Although it is disabled, you can still do the cache if you wish, although I doubt anyone will want to because winter is the least attractive season to do this one - late spring and summer it is spectacularly beautiful, autumn too, to a lesser degree - but winter does not show the gardens to best advantage. If you do tackle it, I would advise not opening the cache container when you have finished. If you email (or message) me with the padlock code and send a photo of the outside of the container, I'm happy for you to log it as a find without signing the log.

Well that was a great walk! I really needed to stretch my legs after months of lockdown, and when I heard about this new one I really wanted to give it a go. Virginia Water is lovely, and this route took me round most of it by the time I had finished. It's a good half day out, and I was pleased to find that the web page worked really well to guide me around. I imagine that the views in the gardens are going to be really spectacular a little later in the spring. There was a sting in the tail at the final location; let's just say that this cache is unlikely to be muggled! When I opened the box I thought initially that the CO had left an unusual FTF gift, but quickly understood! I've signed the log but left all the contents for future visitors. Thanks for the cache!
