Checked on the cache today, it was still there but pretty much buried by the decomposing log. It was caked in dirt on the outside but still clean and dry inside :-)
However, this is no longer such as good hiding place as it was when I hid it, and the reason for placing it on the boundary disappeared once they closed Richmond Park to cache placements, so I've decided to archive it and recycle the box :-)

Tried to do my first Opencache find today, since I was nearby doing the GC one and I've recently signed up to OC so I now get these on my phone map too! Alas, depite some serious poking around with a hefty stick, I didn't find anything. I never quite understood the hint though, so perhaps inspiration will strike another time.
Gave up sooner than I otherwise might have, since I wanted to get on with the big Richmond Park Africa cache! (Not that I was planning to finish that today, but I thought I might get half done at least, and I did just about make it that far through before dark.)

My very first ever opencache.
many thanks Andy. I’ll do a few finds , then start contributing. I already have my first OC hide placed. But as I say, I’ll find a few more first. ????

What a special moment. There is a geocache very close to here; Butch Cassidy. It was my 4th ever Geocache find and took me at least 3 visits to find!
Today I came here in search of my very first Opencache. I was struggling with the interface as it's not nearly as user friendly as Goecaching (but that may come with time?), so I felt a little doubtful that I'd come away having found this.
My plan was to approach it in a calm and methodical manor and to my surprise I was rewarded. The cache is safe and dry.
Thanks Andy for another new experience. See you later on.

Cache found with Quenrelia during a nice Sunday walk around Richmond.
We tried few months ago to find this cache, but failed. Few days ago I noticed that it has been checked recently so I thought it was a good idea to try it again.
We had to search for it almost 30 minutes, the GPS signal was not great, we were not sure to understand the hint, until Quenrelia, very motivated as usual, managed to find it.

It's still here. Once again, it had got itself pretty well buried, as it usually does. A little bit damp inside this time, but no running water. There is a little torch in here with a battery, that was left when the cache was new, and the original battery still worked fine! The torch has been a bit overtaken by events, who wants a filament torch these days, historical interest only . I did remove the battery, felt it was pushing my luck after all this time and don't want it corroding inside the cache.
An about 7 year resuscitation if anyone wants it .

Cache maintenance. The cache took a bit of finding as it had somehow become half buried - replaced so it is easier to spot. All OK, no attention needed.

Thought I'd be clever and immediately exited Richmond Park from the parking co-ords and took the long way round by trying to approach through East Sheen Common. On the way back I took the quicker route through the park.

Note that this cache is marked as "OC only" as this will be the long term status of the cache. However, it is in the process of being migrated from the TerraCaching site. I have posted on the TerraCaching cache page my intention to archive it there in two weeks, so as to give time for any TerraCacher to visit had they planned to do so.
During this period the cache will be cross listed, and the log in the cache will describe itself as a TerraCache. From then onwards it will be exclusively an OpenCache and I will visit to update the contents.
