In the area today on business so I just had to pop up here and have a look for this one-- what could be better than seeking an "abandoned for 7 years" Amberel top cache. What a fantastic little area- I can understand a cache being hidden here. Sadly GZ now resembles a well groomed lawn- better than my own at home and the rose bushes have been cut to within an inch of their life. Had a poke around in the ground but it was never going to happen-- nevermind a great spot for me to remember with this log.

As I made my way up the hill I was slightly alarmed to see the heads of a few cows showing above the tufts of longer grass. Not alarmed because I'm scared of cows, but because the weather forecast was for a lovely day today, but cows lying down is supposed to mean it's going to rain! As it turned out, the weatherman was right and the cows had got it wrong Wink .

The cows were right where my GPSr was taking me. As I got near, some of them very lazily got to their feet, others just stayed put. They all looked interestedly at me as I searched for and found the well hidden cache.

As I browsed through the contents they gathered all around me in a circle about 15 feet away. With some cows this might have seemed threatening, but these ones exuded an almost tangible aura of placidity. The interest they showed in my activity means we may well have another couple of dozen OpenCache converts Surprised .

I took a couple of Phil's pathtags for my collection, and left a pen - the pen was really my spare for writing logs, and I hadn't intended to trade it, but it was all I had Laughing . I also took home several scratches from the bushes Frown .

Thanks for a smashing cache. A lovely walk, great views, and a container that was conspicuously neat and clean. In fact it was good enough to be awarded one of my TOP CACHE geocoins, for more information see http://www.amberel.com/topcache.htm Laughing .

Rgds, Andy

I was in the area and noticed that this one was still unclaimed after several months so visited the hill to grab an FTF. Enjoyed a lovely walk and great views from the top.
I found the hide after a brief search then sat and watched Buzzards and Red Kites soaring above the hill.
Took New Year beads, left a poker chip and a few Pathtags.
Thanks for a really nice morning!
