5418 2019-12-08 18:56 The Wanderer (user activity51) - Found it

Tregarrick Tor was our last point on this portion of Bodmin Moor today. Decided to do the dog-leg over Craddock Moor then back to Minions. Cache found straightforward, but a little damp, then headed off, looking over a shoulder eyeing the next squally downpour coming our way. Did we make it back in time? NO!! 15 mins from the car, the heavens opened with torrential rain/hail and gusty winds, then as Dave opened the car, the blue sky appeared!!!!! Soaked and cold, we needed the journey home to get warm and dry out. Easy come, easy go!

This was the last cache of the day and a great walk with "The Wanderer" Tregarrick is a great place that I have always been fond of with a fair few "hidden secrets". Sadley this cache was full of water and there was little we could do other than empty it out and dry it as best we could. Thanks for bringing me back here again.. We ended up almost as wet as this cache--see Wanderers log!!!

We spent the day in Plymouth yesterday, so were desperate to get out for a walk today. Forecast was poor, so we decided to park at Minions and walk over to Tregarrick Tor.

Lovey walk over, passing the engine house of New Phoenix mine on the way, although it was a bit wet underfoot. Cache was quickly spotted by Mr & Mrs R at the same time.

Didn't stop to enjoy the views as we could see the bad weather coming over the moors. Sure enough we were caught in a hail shower on the way back to Minions.

Thanks for a lovely walk.

Lovely walk - easy find and very nicely stocked, the Munzee being the bonus! Thanks for placing the cache.

Walked to this one from Minions on a very cold morning with stron NE wind.  The ground was solid underfoot so no problem with marshy areas.

It was good to shelter from the wind for a while by the rocks near the cache location.

Many thanks for yet another great qualtiy cache.

We had found a few Groundspeak caches on the way up here, but this was the first "target" cache of the day. A really lovely walk from Minions on the first sunny day of our holiday (though there was a cold breeze, and it would rain again before we got back to Minions).

Maisie the geospaniel revelled in the stream crossings, splashing around up to her neck while I negotiated Mrs. A. over the stepping stones Laughing.

And a spectacular view of the reservoir as we rounded the tor.

Took quite a lot of finding, even with the spoiler on my phone - in the sun it was hard to make out the contrast and detail on the screen, and we had to be in just the right spot and at just the right angle for it to "work" Laughing.

Another TOP CACHE for Gribben (see http://www.amberel.com/topcache.htm ). Why does this cache get an award but not the nearby Groundspeak cache? While they are both in the same fantastic location, a Gribben cache is usually housed in the highest quality container, and holds a wide selection of interesting swap items. This one was no exception.

Thanks for another super cache,

Rgds, Andy, Marion and Maisie

We headed straight for this one after a failed attempt to get to it from the lake the week before. But walking in from Minions it was an easy find with spot on cordinates. Found some excellent swaps and left some crystals as that seemed to be the theme of swaps there. Left a tintagel quarzt point and some carved crystal figures. Brilliant spot TFTC

Sneaked off from the event while nobody was looking and grabbed this one before the others were informed there was an opencache down there.

Good hide, thanks Phil.

Returned to sign the log now it's listed on O/C, once again enjoyed the walk.  For some reason selection of log type is not working at the moment.

I found this opencache together with Windrush Cachehunter last year in September - due to this late logging (June 2011), I cannot remember details, my apologies.

Decided on a moorland walk today as it was warm and sunny and coastal places would be heaving with people.  It was so quiet on the moor though. Fantastic views from here!  Walked here from Minions on the way to Siblyback lake.  A well hidden cache. TFTC in such a nice spot!!

My last visit to this one was from the reservoir below and a good walk up. Today I came across from "Right on the Edge" Opencache on my mountain bike in the pouring rain. By the time I got here I was soaked through but I was enjoying the day anyway. No visitors since I was last here so I have two entries on the same page now, used a different coloured ink thoughSmile.

The ride back to Minions was very difficult, the wind and rain was driving right into me and being slightly uphill I think I may have been quicker walking today.

Great to get five Opencaching finds today though, the fog and rain were a minor irritation on what turned out to be a very good day.

Found previously on Terracaching.com on 10.8.08: "My first Terracache and what a good one to start with. Been here before so knew the way to the Tor, then it was just a case of finding the well hidden box. Good weather today meant the views could be enjoyed. Swopped goodies and signed the log. Thanks."

Found as a terracache with my two young sons.

As suggested by Gribben we parked at Minions car park and had a very enjoyable walk to Tregarrick Tor. The cache was found quickly as the coordinates are spot on.

We had lunch overlooking the reservoir which one of the best spots I have been to for a while.

A very well stocked box, with lots of good items. Took the FTF prize. TFTC.
