6212 2021-11-06 00:25 Dartmoor Dave (user activity144) - Found it

I have been finding and placing opencaches for many years and I am amazed I have never stopped to search for this cache before. I very quickly arrived at what looked like a likely hide and soon had the cache in hand. However, the cache was part full of water and everything inside, including the inner container was saturated. I therefore took it back to my car, cleaned it out completely and placed a new logbook in a new inner container. So, in pristine condition at the moment. Many thanks for placing this opencache.

Well, a quick find, wasn't expecting it to be this close to Dartmeet!! Fortunately mine was a mighty hop, skip and jump from New Bridge!! Now off down the Gorge, a cracking experience through a terrifically 'wild' valley when the river is up and the tree cover is down! Cache is rather damp I'm afraid to say.

Enjoying a nice amble around the area with my collie, I was pleased to try this cache-with-a-history.

I initially failed to spot it, but once the GPS had settled down and I was clear on which clue item it was, some deft poking revealed the container.

As others have said, the outer container does leak, but the inner is reasonably okay. A little damp but usable. The plastic bag full of swag (and a werthers...) is pretty manky though.

A nice spot and thanks for placing it.

After a little dig i soon got the cache out of its hiding hole. Exectly where it should be. Nice bright blue lid which made it easy to spot.

I was travelling from one side of the moor to the other.  I had just set a cache and was now off to hopefully grab a FTF.  What better way to round the day off?  Grabbing an Opencache too.

I arrived at GZ and had a search.  Nothing was obvious or matched the hint.  However, after digging a bit further (literally) I was rewarded with the container.

Our very first Opencache! I keep seeing this one and the other nearby so after Dartmoor Daves event today we stopped of to have a look at this one. We did have to wait tho as it was chucking it down but it eventually settled so off I headed. Once at GZ I spotted some sticks and remembering about it being covered I soon spy the lid.

Like the last to find it was half full of water so after draining it all out the log in still nice and dry.

Pleased to find this today, on way home after a great walk out around central South moor. I didnt hold much hope following previous log, however quckly found. Its buried! Outer was full of water but inner in film pot all good with perfect log sheet showing last visit in 2011! Many thanks There was a Wethers original in the cache, I didnt fancy that so left for the next visitor....

The car park was very busy when I arrived but fortunately most of the people were interested in the Clapper Bridge and were not venturing out along the surrounding footpaths. I found the cache quickly and, like Sandvika, jumped at the appropriate time. Signed log and left pathtag. TFTC

A bit of a consolation cache following a rather unsuccessful visit to the Lydford area that resulted only in DNFs on OCs.  I'd been to Dartmeet a couple of times before and a return visit was called for not only because my wife had complained about the location of our earlier hike lacking interest for her, but also because my sons are at a good age to enjoy the rocks.

I was blissfully unaware of this cache prior to arrival and fully intended to place a cache myself, since I'd removed a bison capsule from a film canister micro earlier in the week without doing a swap and the only proper thing to do was to use it as a cache in the area. Thus, my plan made and cache challenge already envisaged, I arrived on location only for this cache to appear on my GPSr display once I'd turned it on.

So whilst my sons were busy hopping and skipping, I sought the cache armed only with the coordinates and duly jumped accordingly at the appropriate moment.  Many thanks for the cache. Sandvika #972

We broke our journey to Cornwall to find this cache, which was in a popular spot but neatly out of the way of most visitors. It's great to be able to bring my wife to Dartmoor, and after this cache we walked a few miles up and down the river.

Caught out by the "surprise" inside the cache Laughing.

Timed our departure just right, we caught a few showers, but a few minutes after we left the weather closed in for the rest of the day.

Thanks for the cache,

Rgds, Andy

Visited this one as a Terracache so returned today to sign in it's new incarnation as an Opencache.  The moorland roads were teeming with motor and pedal cyclist, don't think I have ever seen so many in such a short space of time.  Once again thanks for the cache.

Our third OpenCache of the day (and our fourth ever!), as we just came from his Lordship Darcy's Easy Pies! The photos/description of this one looked really interesting, plus the lure of a couple of GCs and a decent eating place all nearby clinched the deal -- just the job for our family caching day on Dartmoor. #1 Son homed in quickly on this very nice hide. We all got a nice surprise when the container was opened -- thanks to whoever set that up [:)]. Both Abanazar sons were well impressed with the contents of this cache -- it got their 'Best contents of the day' award and much trading ensued. We went on for a good lunch at the restaurant (no cream teas for us today), then got the north and south GCs. We had a great few hours along the river here -- what a lovely spot. Thanks for bringing us here.

This was my 1st -"First to Find" cache..but it was a Navicache when I found it, so I am claiming it now as an "Opencache".
