Wandered out of my office and around the corner to this cache, which has long been on my to-do list, this afternoon. Waved at the new camera!

Note to future visitors: looks like the "lag time" is about 45 seconds, so you're likely to have to stand around a bit. I've attached a picture showing the window where the camera now sits so you can position yourself appropriately. Good luck!

Looks like the webcam is now back up, but the URL on this page needs revising to https://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/webcams/ and/or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh48dJYojmE.

Going to try to get out there when I can.

Please note:

As the webcams are currently down, a photograph of yourself or your GPS device at the location is acceptable as proof of a find.

The Oxford Internet Institute webcams are currently offline for an upgrade, so this webcam cache currently can't be logged. Hopefully they'll be back up and running soon, but if they're being replaced with new ones then there's a possibility that the viewing angle, position/facing or other characteristics might change: cachers take care!

Edit (2018-06-08): I've just spoken to the Oxford Internet Institute and they don't know exactly when their webcams are coming back because they're dependent upon the completion of some redecoration in the office from which they were based.

I had recently noticed that c:geo now supports OPENCACHE.uk, and had connected my account, but then forgotten all about it, so I was pleased when I opened up the app in Oxford today and spotted some new caches.  I've never actually found an OpenCache before, and it's been years since I found a webcam cache, so this was a good start!

The Oxford Internet Institute webcam page is still running, but there's now only a choice of two camera.  It looks like there's a delay of about 30s in the images, which combined with the fiddly screenshot function on my phone made it tricky to get a shot of me waving.  Managed in the end though!

Was in Oxford for the Geolympix's Mega Event and had the wife at home with a computer on, so thought this would be a good opportunity to get this cache, on a glorious hot sunny day.

Had already researched the cameras and decided which one we would use and where to stand, so was easy for a picture to be grabbed Smile

Thank you for the webcam cache.

Cachers please note.

The angle of the camera seems to change occasionally, please check where it is pointing and that you are in view before attempting to capture an image. Currently there are three cameras to choose from.

Happy caching!
