As is usual for this time of the month, I was on the lookout for a FTF to continue my monthly streak. There were slim pickings. In fact the only cache really available was this one. I just had to decide how to get to it.

My planned route was to park in Feenworthy, cross the clapper bridge, head North above the marsh, cut across to this before heading back via Sittaford Tor. I am sure that the CO took a very different route, however this gave me more bang for my buck in a part of the Moor I had never visited before.

I had got the FTF that I was after and carried on with my planned route. This was my longest search of the day so far. I ended up on my hands and knees and searched every tussock.

It must of been after about 20 mins that I spotted the container laying out in the open. I placed it behind a nearby rock

Almost 5 years since the last visitor to this cache. It doesn't show though, the hide is in perfect condition.

I walked here from Scorhill via Manga, the terrain was good save for the last km or so through Turpin's Pit. Bonus info was noted in case I find myself in a position to make use of it.

Pleased to be able to post at least one opencaching "found it" from this long trek around the middle of the north moor today :-)

All OK here, thanks for the cache,

Rgds, Andy

Our second cache of the day, having stopped earlier at Manga Brook.  The first of a set of three Opencaches, all part of the Dartmoor Challenge.  We approached via the Peat Pass and came across a hoard of walkers. We worried that they would interrupt our searching for this cache. However they only stopped briefly at the cist then went on.

At GZ there was an obvious spot to begin searching but no obvious hides. This put me in mind of our recent Nakers Hill experience and I recalled where I had found the cache eventually. Looking along the same lines, the cache was in-hand almost immediately. Good hide amongst the ever growing tussocks!

Cache lovely and dry and  in great condition.

Wonderful spot for a cache.

Bonus info noted before setting off again, this time towards hangingstone Hill over (dryish) peat bogs

The second Open cache of the day, found quickly after a trudge from Hangingstone Hill. I passed another walker sitting on some rocks as I made my way south and he apologised for spoiling my solitude!

Onwards to Cranmere Pool again, for the second time in two days.

Mr.W found this one, before I got there, was half way across the hill, so waited for him, then returned to the hut to sit in the lee of it out of the wind for lunch. Not a lot of humans around today. Thanks for the trip.
