Found at the second attempt just over two years after my DNF here in March 2017.

The cache was found after a brief search with the aid of a comment in a recent log!

TFTC.

There are so many nice dry areas on Dartmoor so why choose this location?! I had ten minutes before I was due to be at an event cache not too far away so needed a relatively quick find. I did the usual and put my rucksack down where the GPS suggested and proceeded to look amongst the peat.

An initial search revealed nothing so I consulted past logs for advice. What was written does not constitute a spoiler by any means however it made me think slightly different about the hide. Eventually the rattle of the box was heard about 4m north of where my GPS suggested. TFTC

Logging retrospectively I am feeling rather smug because two other cachers couldn't spot this one today

Hoorah Hoorah Hoorah!

Second to find (according to cache log and opencaching.com) and a sad face now a happy smiley one!

Whilst planning our day we wondered whether to try for this first or go the other way around - last.

We had a good memory of the area after our last search and were worried that the cache would be buried and unfindable, especially as no-one else had found it since we were last here. We decided to try for this last so that we didn’t spend too long here and miss out on the rest of the planned walk.

So arrived at GZ at only 13:30 with hours of daylight and only 2ish miles back to car, having completed the rest of our goals for the day. Chocolate cake and coffee to keep us fed and ready for prolonged search.

Spotted the collapsed bank, searched the likely hole near GZ, removed handfuls of dead grass from likely hiding places, put my full arms length down a very damp deep hole but to no avail. Was just saying that hubby was too far from GZ when… rattle rattle - he’d found it!

Hubby thinks you are mischief, Dave, and wrote that in the logbook ;)

We were hoping to finish our red letter day with a find here - but it was not to be :(

We reached GZ and had a look around. One likely hole at GZ seemed empty. There weren't many other hiding places but the bank nearby showed signs of recent collapse. Could it be under there?

Anyways, we've had an excellent day out, achieved our main goals, so had a quick snack before the walk back to the car.

Had a look for this on my way to Fur Tor on a modest 9.5 mile walk into the north-western part of the moor but came up empty-handed despite a prolonged search. Will have to try again another day.

Needed to get out for a stretch today, originally planned to go around Whitehorse then spotted firing at the last minute. Put together a circuit around here and was surprised to be first visitor. The terrain around the cache was very challenging, especially for the dogs. Thanks for setting the challenge.Cool oh and the weather is fantastic and feet are dry for a change.
