A quick find whilst in the area today, a long time since I've been this way so good to get acquainted with it again.  tftc

Cricket widow for the day. I think they should play at least once a week.

Found on my way back to the car from Red Lake. On the way out I've concentrated on a series and only on my way back did I start to search for others and a few letterboxes.

In the end I've walked 31 km (my GPS says). The weather held all day long, even though the forcast said loads of rain showers.

While looking for the cache a helicopter came along. I've tried to make a photo. He must have spotted it and hovered for me a bit. He then waved.

Noted the info by photo and not on a piece of paper. Hopefully I don't totally cock it all up with keeping my records, probably for years on this challenge.

Cache in good condition. Very slighly damp. I guess the heavy stone on top holds the seal. TFTC

Found during a long day of groundspeak/opencaching from Scout Hut out as far as Broad Falls.  A stunning setting here.  The cache was in plain view as I arrived, and two of the clips on the outer container were broken off.  The contents were still dry though, and I tucked the cache back in a discreet spot at the coordinates, weighed down by the only available object.  The CO may wish to bring a new outer container next time he is out this way.  Thanks for the cache!

It is always good to find a previous cache of the month. I had a brilliant walk from Shipley Bridge and ended up going as far as Ducks Pool and still getting off the moor just after sunset. I approached this one from Broad Falls and that meant that I avoided all the boggy bits in this area. TFTC

Today was the last day of my summer leave and there was no better way to finish it, than a nice walk up on Dartmoor. NSCR and me put this day in the diary weeks ago and were blessed with good weather as we headed out from Shipley bridge to take in Read Lake and head up to Fishlake Gully in a 13 mile round trip.

We headed over for this , which was our only Opencache for the day and made a nice quick find.  More bonus info has been recorded.

Headed off the Zeal Tor Tramway route towards Redlake and this opencache first. Slowly but surely getting these Dartmoor Challenge ones ticked off! Again, my phone's GPS started playing up here - wherever I walked, the cache would be 53 feet away. It's been doing this quite a bit recently, not sure why. For the second time today my old trusty Garmin came to the rescue and I soon found the cache. Surprised I hadn't found it before then, as it was pretty much in plain sight. I tried to cover it over a little better when I left. Many thanks for bringing me to a lovely spot - it's so peaceful out here.

TFTC,

Isaac

Three years old and only three previous visitors!  We were at Red Lake today, and after dipping my feet in the water to cool them down a little and caching up with fellow cachers, GoldenHaystack and I headed off to seek out this Opencache.  Initially I thought we might be in the wrong spot and I couldn't see anywhere to hide a cache, before walking one or two paces more then the cache was spotted.  I signed us in and returned the container to its hide.

Our first trip out onto Dartmoor for some time and we made it a special one - right out into the wilderness at Dry lake.

On our return from wilderness, we stopped off here to find this cache. Only three finders previous to us (two logged). We travelled in circles a little trying to find the best route over the rough ground but an easy find once at GZ. Lovely to visit this special place again - the sun even finally came out and dried us off after a wet start this morning. Now for the return to Lud Gate and home for a well deserved rest!

A rapid find while out on a 14-mile walk on the south moor, from Whiteworks to Hook Lake and back, on a sunny but breezy day.

Apologies for the extremely late log - making a determined effort to rectify our lax logging on Opencaches, using geocache logs from our aging Garmin and photographs from our archives if available.

TFTC.

Came here via Nakers, Fish Lake and Green Hill caches. The going was surprisingly easy from Green Hill so managed to get here around lunch time as planned. Nice to view the pyramid from a different position. loving it TFTC

Thanks, felt that if we left this one, it would be a long old haul back for it. As we came from Fishlake, it was a bit of a trudge, but a nice day all the same.
