5745 2020-11-19 11:35 The White Family (user activity96) - Didn't find it

---(2020-11-19 11:35:06)---(DNF)---
Today was Day 2 of my walk along the Ramblers' Route, a 26-mile ring around Bracknell. Despite living nearby for over twenty years, and even placing and finding caches on the route, I've never walked the whole thing. Lockdown, and shorter days, seemed a good opportunity to rectify this omission and today I walked from Englemere Pond to Broadmoor and back again.

The hint suggested to me that, especially at this time of year, the cache might be a tricky find. I took the wrong route to the cache - lots of unnecessary bushwhacking - then spent quite some time searching before concluding that what I needed was a leaf blower. I have no doubt that the cache is still there so this is one for another day.

Found this quite easily, fortunately. I set out to get 8 caches today at Swinley Forest, thinking I would be very lucky to get 4, but I went straight to this one and most of the others, finding all 8.
I didn't realise that there were 4 opencaches in this area, so unfortunately only 3 of the 8 were opencaches. This cache is in very good order.

Found on a lively walk with Nate_22, we spent ages trying to find this cache. But in the end, when we were almost about to give up, we found it! Thanks for the find:)

Cache # 3 @ 16:05

Took wayyyyyyyyyy too long on this cache. Turns out it was buried under almost three years of leaf litter. Well done to A_Loved_Scorpio for uncovering it.

I had rather forgotten about Opencaching until the recent emails about its change of website and then notifications of several new caches. So today after having to make a trip to Reading this morning it was a good opportunity to try some of them.

Parked at the kebab van location (although it was not there this morning) and made the walk to GZ. Once at GZ I think it was the second location I tried that revealed the cache.

Last time I was in the area for a dog walk I didn't know that this cache was new.

So, today, I was back. Brought the geohound that was still in training when we've found the original cache and is now a fully fledged geohound. He helped briefly and really pointed to the correct area. After that him and Sandy had more pressing business to tend to.

Took a moment to find, but very satisfying once the clean log book was in hand. TFTC

This is a replacement cache for one I had to archive as the area had been cleared by forestry work.

The replacement cache is few hundred yards from the old location.
