My current walking project is the Lea Valley Walk in east London but because of the partial closure of Waterloo I looked for a walk which I could travel to by car. The area around Theale and Sulham looked ideal and it also has many Opencaches. I parked in Theale and enjoyed a 10km figure of eight walk north from Theale, across the M4, to Sulham Wood, and back.
It wasn't the eponymous bridge which interested me but the one I'd just used to cross over the M4. I've passed under it many times but hadn't appreciated just how over-engineered it is given the location. It's just a footpath bridge and can't be well used, the path either side isn't suitable for those of reduced mobility, yet the spiral ramps are more suited to an urban route to provide easy access for cyclists, buggies and the like. Strange.
Anyway, the bridge safely conveyed me to the other side of the motorway, which I guess is all that really matters, and the cache was a nice easy find.
