This cache is placed to compliment the GC 'fish road series' and fill an obvious gap in it.
The old route was established in the late 17 hundreds to take fish. (Mostly herring) from Ullapool, where the catch was landed to market in Dingwall. This section from Garve to Aultguish shows on the ordinance survey map, and it's still navigable although some places it's not easy to discern. Please take care especially on slippery sections, and leave gates as you find them.
Its wild country, with no cell signal for the northern half of the walk.
