On the east bank of the "Wollake" lies a cavern. The immense roof slab measures 35ft by 13ft. Gaps between the slab and supporting boulders have been plugged with stones. The cavern is known as Phillpotts Cave. " Eden Phillpotts" adopted the cave before world war one to be sparsely equipped as a shelter for moormen and others familiar with it.It was once cleared out and a cache of preserved food and whiskey was installed in its inner most recess. Cave is opposite cache across the stream about 70yds away
