Cayton Bay is a splendid beach and our nearest local surf break. We thought we would place the cache so we have something else to do when the waves are flat and we can't surf!
The cache is located on a small footpath linking Cayton Bay and Cornelian Bay, close to Osgodby Point. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND CHECK THE TIDE TIMES before walking across Cayton beach and climbing onto the Point, or you may be cut off at high tide. The best time to set off is approximately an hour BEFORE LOW TIDE.
To get onto the Point via the beach you will have to tackle a small scramble up a mud bank, so it is unsuitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and small children. Please take care on the mud bank and be aware of your surroundings. The approach terrain is unstable and liable to change, so do not attempt unless you know what you are doing.
We think it is worth the effort to see the magnificent views of the Bay.
After finding the cache you may wish to walk on further up to the ridge for good views of Cornelian Bay and Scarborough to the North. Please take care near to the edge.
Please feel free to post any photos you may have taken whilst completing the cache.
