Description EN

 Dewerstone

Dewerstone Rock is a popular tor for walkers and climbers. On the South West of the tor is a famous climb and during the summer it is rare not to see climbers on it.

On top of the tor is an inscription remembering "The Poet of Dartmoor" N T Carrington who loved this area. Close to this inscription is a plaque set into the granite with a short verse on it. It can be found at N50° 27.397' W004° 03.665' and I have no idea why it is here.

This cache is hidden on the quieter side of the tor but stealth may still be required at certain times. I have included a spoiler picture because it is hidden well and it's a long climb to go away empty handed. It is also hidden under the shelter of a tree so when the leaves come out, the reception may not be so good.

For a short route to the cache you can park at Shaugh Bridge N50° 27.241 W004° 04.049' but I should probably mention this is a tad steepSmile

For a more leisurely stroll I would suggest parking at Cadover, N50° 27.926 W004° 02.286', and following one of the many paths which head across to the Dewerstone.

The views from the top are outstanding and if you have the time, it would be worth taking a picnic and spending a few minutes taking it all in.

The cache is a clip lock box with the usual few swaps and a FTF prize.
