This is a traditional cache placed near the disused Knack Mine. My wife, Geocaching Widow, and I have enjoyed many walks around this area courtesy of other cache owners. We decided it was time to give something back. Getting there is very easy by Dartmoor standards, a well surfaced network of tracks will take you to within 100 metres of this hide.
Knack Mine is a former tin mine close to the banks of the river Taw. It was most active in the 19th century when several tonnes of tin were extracted from adits sunk in to the banks. If you continue to head upstream there is clear evidence of leats and spoil heaps in the modern landscape.
This shouldn't be a difficult cache to find but if you do get really stuck there is a spoiler photo in the gallery. Have a look around the area first knowing you can refer to the photo as a last resort.
You are looking for a small clip lock container containing a film pot that holds the logbook. This cache has been placed in accordance with the Dartmoor National Park Geocaching guidelines. Thanks DNPA, I love Opencaching on Dartmoor!
