Really surprised to find this one still in place. A unique cache by all accounts, formed by a broken Tic Tac container containing a mushy log. This is a great location so although I have removed the litter for now, I intend to revive the cache in the same manner as I did for High Willhays opencache. My rucksack in increasing in weight as the day goes on, so far I have picked up two shoes-not a pair, a hat, a single glove, 3 plastic bottles and some tent pegs- to add to all this I have also removed the plastic tubing near this cache which once housed a letterbox. tftc

These five OpenCaches on the west of Dartmoor were on my list last year, but I didn't get round to doing them. So they were the top priority for my first visit this year.

For the first time I was accompanied on my Dartmoor walks, by factotem, and for the first time I came in my campervan instead of on my scooter. The van was parked at the Bundu site north of Prewley Farm, which was a very convenient base.

We arrived at the Loaf by way of a couple of Groundspeak caches, but it was good to open the OpenCaching account on the trip.

After finding the cache I consumed my "elevenses", a hot cross bun, this being a suitable snack to ensure the owner of the cloven hooves kept his distance Laughing .

This was David's (factotem's) first OpenCache - here he is pictured by the Loaf factotem at Branscombe's Loaf

Thanks for the cache

Rgds, Andy

My first open cache (apart from a GC cross reference) and an impressive place to start. I have to say Andy was like a man on a mission, homing in on this one in no time. A good hide and a nice place. Thanks very much.

Easily found in an area of marshy walking after all the rain we have had!  Cache dry.  Many thanks

After parking at the Fox and Hounds at Lydford I made my way here in a very strong wind and thick fog. I visited a GC cache first, a little way down the hill, so by the time I got here I had already covered three miles in pretty bad conditions.

Finding this wasn't any problem and I was surprised that there were no TB's in the cache. It turned out that Broyleboxers had visited last week and picked them upLaughing.

I would like to have taken the offer up to admire the view but all I could see was fog, fog and a bit more FOG!!! It is Dartmoor though so what should I have expected? There can't be many places you can have near gale force winds and thick fog either. It took nearly four hours of the wind before the fog began to clear away and that was just as I was climbing down off the moor.

I did enjoy the walk round though and a bonus of the fog is that even if there is anyone else nearby, you don't see themCool.

All the opencaches I visited today were good ones but I have put a green star on this one because it was the best for me today.

Walked up the Rattlebrook Tramway from the Fox and Hounds to get this one,  quick find once arrived in the area, didn’t take any TB’s as I don’t usually move them on anyway. Lovely day for a walk.  Thanks for the cache and giving me a good bit of exercise this morning.
