Second last cache of the day. Having parked up at 08:20 and finding this cache at 14:13. I had a very nice day in the area. Slightly spoiled by the local hunt exercising their dogs and lost control by the look of it. Loads of panicked sheep running our way.

Cache found in the second hole I've looked. TFTC

visiting the DTTA caches listed on the other site and decided it was high time this one was put to bed.  A bit of a climb from Headland Warren but worth it for the superb picnic spot just a few feet higher.  Cache in good order, many thanks for it.

We haven't found many Open caches at all and none for a very long time. Today we found two and this was the second. TFTC

Two caches for the price of one! I picked up the feeder information from near the car park, looked at the cloud over the forest nearby and wondered whether I had time to make it to the top of Birch tor before I got lost in the fog, and decided I could make it. The cache was nice and dry, and I picked up the bonus information. I've not really looked on opencache before, interesting to have a multicache that leads you to two boxes. TFTC.

Hello! I think this is my first time logging an opencache! Out with Balrogslayer's Mum today on a circular walk around the Birch Tor area. After finding the feeder cache with no problem we took note of the details of both caches and headed off. We nabbed the other one first - and very pleased to resus that. Then on to this GZ, where I'm pleased to say the cache was quickly located. Everything in perfect order - despite not being found in well over 2 years - and bonus noted. Great - I could get in to this caching lark!" Ha ha. Cheers

How remiss of me, I forgot to log the Opencache version of this one, which I completed with ChudleighTraveller after the D365 event at Willingstone Rock. A lovely walk over a part of Dartmoor I've never visited before. However I wasn't even meant to be here - I had inadvertently entered a rare bird nesting area. Oh well, I think I caused less harm than the dogs running around off leads up here. Quickly found the cache.

Today I was invited to join heartradio on a little caching adventure at Birch Tor, to look for just a few caches, including this opencache, in the glorious sunshine. We found the first stage very quickly, and armed with a set of coordinates we continued our walk. This is an area I'm particularly fond of, and have great memories. As a child I placed a Letterbox not too far away (sadly now missing) at Vitifer Mine, in memory of my great great grandfather who worked in the mine, Ernest Harvey. I also planted a tree very close to that Letterbox, which grew rather large over the last 25ish years (maybe a little more). Anyway, I'm digressing now, so we headed up to the Tor where there are some beautiful views, and still a little bit of snow present from last weeks deluge. Once at GZ we began searching, and heartradio made it known he'd found the cache. The nice sized box was retrieved and the admin was carried out. A lovely opencache, in a great location, it has been many years since I last visited this location, and it was a very pleasant return.

On our way to the New years day 2018 event, we had already found some caches and this was our last stop before heading of to the event. We had a nice cup of tea before heading out in the blustery conditions to find part one, the writing in the container has seen better days and made the best guess of the last digit of each of the coordinates, once at GZ the find was straight forward and now back to the car to head for a lovely cream tea!

A second Open Cache find, very soon after the first, and another in the 2015 Six Tors Challenge ticked off.

It took a while to find the cache working with the co-ordinates only - we didn't have access to the hint.

This was the last cache of the day so it's off to a local hostelry to grab a bite to eat.

TFTC.

Looked for a fair old time, but couldn't spot it. Only DNF of the day.

I signed up for Opencaching just to register this find. I found the coordinates in a GC listing and had to try and find it. I did so without issue and ate yet more Billberries in the area whilst a family looked on from Birch Tor. TFTC

<html /> Thanks, lovely day. Finding it a bit hard to get to grips with Open caching site.

3006 2015-03-25 16:45 Amberel (user activity610) - Found it

This series of several short forays from the car park is suiting me very well this week. Having banjaxed my right knee ski-ing a week or so ago I'm finding walking very painful and would certainly not want to venture far out into the middle of the moor. But several short walks gives me opportunities to stop if it gets intolerable Laughing. And Dartmoor has magical properties of seeming to be miles from anywhere even when you are only half a mile from the parking Laughing.

Contrary to the earlier forecast it's been a lovely day, but the sun disappeared while we were on our way to this cache and it reminded us that we are still in March - the temperature immediately dropped several degrees.

Thanks for another lovely cache, nice and clean and in a great location,

Rgds, Andy

I nice stroll up here I saw the correct place and noted it but walked a bit further. That allowed Amberel to nip in and grab it.

Once at gz the cache was quickly found. Misty up there this morning. Plenty parked at Bennet's cross - thought they were all up here - but we did not see a soul.

Tor number four completed! Phew,  the wind was brutal at the top, Mama Madbeast had difficulty staying on her feet. On our journey back down, the wind made a brief clearing in the clouds and we could see the car! And then it was just foggy again.

Signed as Bearded +The Beast, our opencaching account is in our old username.

It was really windy and the visibility was poor. Standing up was a challenge! Fortunately this was a quick find. The fog cleared for about 2 minutes on the return journey to the car.

Undertook this as part of Dartmoor Dave's 2015 Dartmoor Challenge, and wouldn't have normally bothered to enter into the world of Opencaching

[:D] FTF [:D] Pleased to be first to find on our second attempted opencache. Not much of a view today because of the rain and mist but it is a lovely spot. TFTC
