This series of several short forays from the car park is suiting me very well this week. Having banjaxed my right knee ski-ing a week or so ago I'm finding walking very painful and would certainly not want to venture far out into the middle of the moor. But several short walks gives me opportunities to stop if it gets intolerable 
. And Dartmoor has magical properties of seeming to be miles from anywhere even when you are only half a mile from the parking .
Contrary to the earlier forecast it's been a lovely day, but the sun disappeared while we were on our way to this cache and it reminded us that we are still in March - the temperature immediately dropped several degrees.
