In light of Amberel's and Factotem's kind comments I decided to leave this cache in place. I checked it while walking past on Day 13 of my Thames Path walk - a largely familiar section from Reading to Henley - and the container and contents are indeed in surprisingly good condition.
To be honest, I'm amazed anyone manages to find this cache. When I placed it there was little undergrowth and access was straightforward via well-trodden paths. Since then the vegetation has grown significantly and every time I visit the paths have become more and more difficult to use. As a result the cache itself is even more well hidden than it first was. For these reasons I've increased both difficulty and terrain ratings by half a point each.
