Description EN

This cache is placed on the site of the first physical geocache placed on Dartmoor on 03/06/2002 by "Moorlander". It was called "Great Mis Tor 'Jubilee'" and survived until 2006 when it was archived. There was an attempt to get the historic cache re-established but despite agreement in certain areas the final decision was that the GC computer said "NO" so it is good to be able to honour it's memory on Opencaching.

I would suggest parking at Four Winds car park, N50 33.368  W004 02.000, and following the army track on the opposite side of the road up to Little Miss Tor then carry on up the hill to the cache. If you pick a nice day, the views over the North Moor are fantastic from up here and looking South you can see out over Plymouth Breakwater.

The cache is not hidden inside the Merrivale Firing range but is within sight of the marker poles and if you are unfamiliar with Dartmoor ranges please note the warning below.

If you intend going further and into the range, you can check on non firing days here.

Range Firing Notice

WARNING Heed the red warning flags by day and red lights at night for the ranges. If the web site publishes a Non Firing day but on your arrival there are flags or lights displayed, NO NOT pass the range marker poles.
DO NOT touch any suspicious looking objects you find on the moor. Live and blank ammunition and ordnance is used by the military on the ranges. If you encounter any suspicious objects; mark the area, note the location and inform the Training Area Commandant on 01837 650010, or the local police on 08705 777444.
