Description EN

Another ruin on Anglezarke Moor!  Demolished by the Liverpool Corporation, aka the water board, as old farm buildings were deemed as being bad for water purity.

This particular property was one of several given up by Mr G. M. Dixon of the Liverpool Corporation in 1922. The location is near to Peewet Hall, and was farmed by members of the Cocker (of the famous Moses Cocker and his flying machine) family in the 1700s.

By the early 1800s this was owned by the Pilkington's along with the landmark farm near Great Hill, Drinkwaters. Mr Dixon wrote to the Lord Mayor, Alderman and Citizens of the City of Liverpool, stating "I give notice to quit all lands I hold under Liverpool Corporation on February End, 1923..... owing to the high rates and the heavy slump in prices, especially wool, the chief thing on a hill farm."
