In light of Amberel's and Factotem's kind comments I decided to leave this cache in place. I checked it while walking past on Day 13 of my Thames Path walk - a largely familiar section from Reading to Henley - and the container and contents are indeed in surprisingly good condition.

To be honest, I'm amazed anyone manages to find this cache. When I placed it there was little undergrowth and access was straightforward via well-trodden paths. Since then the vegetation has grown significantly and every time I visit the paths have become more and more difficult to use. As a result the cache itself is even more well hidden than it first was. For these reasons I've increased both difficulty and terrain ratings by half a point each.

Good luck!

Did not have this in mind this morning as I rather neglect Opencaches sadly. (Should do better as this one is in excellent order even after all this time).

Got the info OK and got to gz where Amberel told me the cache name. There was a lot of bramble around but we persevered and eventually I made the find.

Be a shame to archive it as it is in good condition.

I was walking past this cache with factotem this morning, and we took the opportunity to find it. We checked all the stages on the way too, and everything is OK. I found it almost exactly 6 years ago, so it was something of a test of memory for me, and I got us within 2 feet of the cache, whereupon factotem made the actual find Laughing.

The cache is in perfect condition, completely clean and dry and with a few small swaps in the box. Real shame if a cache like this gets archived.

We intend to archive this cache in a few weeks so anyone who's planning to visit might want to do so soon.

Found Yes.., last week, but totally forgot to look for OpenCaches.

So today, I took Sandy for another walk. Found the information, calculated and got to GZ. Looked for 10 minutes, then carried on with the dog walk. On the way back I've looked again for about 20 minutes, but no luck. Recalculated, all well. On the way back to the car checked the data, looks ok to me.

I guess I don't get the hint correctly. Not helped by some large branch that fell off and lies right on the track and nature that growth there consiting of hawthorn Cry

Ah well. I'll be back. Nice area and I've never explored the fields above the track.

As the cache hasn't been found for a while I visited all the waypoints and the cache. All is well: the cache is clean, dry and well hidden. The vegetation has encroached on the hiding place and it's more difficult to get to than it was, though it's still accessible.

We made a quick visit to check the cache given the previous DNF. The cache is dry and well hidden just as we left it. The coords, however, seemed a bit out so we've tweaked the formula a little.

Our first hunt. Unfortunately we didn't find the cache - probably ineptitude on our part Cool Thanks anyway.

Very interesting to read the history of the arch and a very good hiding place for the cache. TFTC

I was faced with a dilemma. A Thames-side cache such as this is a jewel I like to reserve for when I'm boating. While personal responsibilities have prevented me from venturing this far up the river for the last couple of years, it seemed an opportunity might present itself in a couple of months. But if we come here or not depends on how Mrs. Amberel chooses we should spend our holiday - on the boat or doing something else.

But goodness knows how long it will be before Mrs. Amberel makes up her mind Surprised , so I decided to do the cache today Smile .

No trouble parking the motor-bike by the roadside today, it was almost empty. The first arch was easy to find, and proved to have an affinity with me in several ways Smile . And the notice board was in the expected place, so that too was straightforward.

After that it was a pleasant walk by the river, past the Blue School, where I have moored overnight in the past.

I was fortunate to have a sunny morning, but there was a cold breeze - maybe more than a breeze, it was blowing wind over current, and strong enough to raise whitecaps on the waves.

And so to GZ. I had an idea of what I was looking for, but it was open to some interpretation and I looked for quite a long time before coming up trumps. I've hidden it again just as it was Smile .

Thanks for a super cache, and a hide that was very tricky but not impossible.
