Finally got my passport in order for this today, and what a glorious day it was too. Blue skies, sunshine, but very pleasantly cool - ideal conditions for this grand tour of the continent
Left home just before 5AM as VHF1 and my sister were going abroad too (France & Belgium), so after grabbing a solved puzzle en route (MUCH easier to grab an urban cache at 5AM ), they were despatched to the train, and I opted for the yacht to the Ivory Coast and arrived shortly after 8AM.
Having completed the Glamr series on Thursday night, Amberel's Virginia Water on Sunday, I'd opted for making small circuits from each of the ports, so my travel itinerary had been carefully planned, and it all (for once ) worked out as per the plan !
The only thing I hadn't factored in was half-term - and boy did it get busier as the day went on ! I only mention this because it means that getting a parking space becomes a challenge, for the actual location visits, it didn't present a problem.
With a couple of the Safari tasks, I had (fond) memories of KAR, but no such antics were required with these majestic animals
The visit to the Bwindi National Park did make me smile, you'll see what I mean when you do it.
On a few occasions, I found myself quite a lot closer to the deer than I'd intended - they blend in VERY well, but had no problems and once I realised, I gave them a respectful distance, after all, I'm a guest in their home, not the other way around.
Using both the yacht and the jet, I completed the tour in between six and seven hours which included a fairly long walk to/from the cache itself - it was just too nice a day not to walk that last leg, and the walking was done at an unhurried pace. This was a cache I'd set the day aside for and was more than happy to spend the time appreciating it.
Technically, I had no issues at all using an iPhone 6 on EE contract using the Safari (how apt !) browser.
Picking up a comment someone else made about using the 4S, I'd taken a "booster" with me, but didn't use it - when moving between locations I plugged the iPhone into a car charger, but it didn't have much time to charge - overall, I probably used 40% from fully charged.
A really great day out, a beautifully engineered "experience" (it's not JUST a cache ), thoroughly recommended - give it the time it deserves, and you will reap the reward.
Thank-you very, very much Amberel, I've had a really great day, and it's a memorable experience for sure
